When Vice President JD Vance takes the stage on Thursday, he will speak about the future as it relates to fatherhood, according to a person familiar with the speech. His fourth child, a boy, was born in July. Vance will also talk about his friendship with Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist and commentator who was a close friend of Vance and was killed one year ago.
When Vance spoke on the convention stage in 2024 as a first-term Ohio senator and President Trump's newly nominated running mate, he discussed his personal story of growing up in an unstable family in Appalachia, which he wrote about in his bestselling memoir "Hillbilly Elegy." Tonight, he appears as a strong presidential candidate for 2028, a race that will start almost immediately after the midterms. On Thursday night, he will talk about his difficult upbringing and look forward, describing how he sees the future.
